To be a boss bitch and slay at being a nail tech you have to be aware of what does help you and what what doesn't, you need to be aware of your brand and how to use it correctly. I am and it's because I operate a healthy salon and I am very aware of what will give you an allergy and what won't. My products are premium and I use them as per brand advice. I use Bio Sculpture Gel and have done since opening in 2019. It's how I keep my clients safe and attempt to get perfect results every time.
So as a Manicurist/Nail Tech I want to do the best job I can. I love talking to all my clients and catching up, it's a social job and I do love having a bit of craic. I love a good laugh in the salon, but I am there to do a job and do it well and in the time frame allowed. I aim for my version of perfection, I want my clients to feel great when they leave my salon. So why am I bossy or direct?
I'm not afraid to let clients know if they are not helping me during their service. I ask you to relax a lot, why is that? If you don’t, I feel like I’m fighting you, and it makes my job harder, my body twists unnaturally and this can affect my posture and create pain overtime. Also you should be enjoying the treatment and are you? if you are not relaxed? Some clients love to see what I'm doing and as we go along you can sometimes look at your other hand whilst I’m working on one, this causes movement on the hand I’m working on, and can be really tiny, but its usually when I have a fine line brush in hand and trying to get as close to the cuticle or side wall as possible or worse still painting Art. It's actually better for me when you don't look at what I'm doing, if you can see your nails, I can't! I always let you see everything before my work goes into the lamp..so no need for previews!
Once prepped and the base laid and I start to lay the colour, this is when I can get more "bossy" it's when keeping as still as possible is advised. I want close but not ON the cuticle! picking up phones, having a drink, scratching, flicking hair, turning your head, all leads to movement, this in turn leads to uneven lines and accidental mistakes. It makes the service take longer. You have to go slow into the curing lamp for these reasons; you can scrape the gel onto the lamp, even worse the lights, meaning the lamps won't work as they should and meaning I have to buy new, I have to correct the accident, this means more time and more product, biting into my budgets. So slow is best! Placement of your hands in the lamp is crucial, and this is when my most bossiest moments happen. I NEED you to be cured properly, I do not want you to get allergies down the line. You must place your fingers on the correct markers and thumb must be cured separately in my lamps. It is important. My lamps are expensive but they are brand aligned and I know they will give you the correct cure if used right
When you are relaxed it's the best, I love my job and love my clients, clients come to me for a reason, I use Bio Sculpture Gel, I'm local to Birtley, Washington, Gateshead Chester le Street and Durham, I have no waiting times, it's a private space, free parking, a relaxed chilled space, it can be a bit of therapy for us both and its a space to get stuff off your chest. No judgements, we can chat or be silent, you can arrive in your slippers, I honestly don't mind. But when it comes to doing the best job I can, I'm a bossy MF and I make no apologies.
Love Lisa x
